Skiing and snowboarding is a vital part of the Northern Nevada Lifestyle. The Truckee/Lake Tahoe region features 14 major ski areas all within a 90 minute drive of the Carson Valley. With over 400 inches of snow fall each year and 300 days of sunshine, bluebird powder days are a common occurrence and one of the many qualities that make the Northern Nevada /Tahoe area such an amazing place to ski and ride.

The 9 major downhill ski areas in the greater North Nevada/Lake Tahoe area include; Heavenly, Kirkwood, Alpine Meadows, Boreal, Diamond Peak, Mt. Rose, Northstar, Squaw Valley, and Sugar Bowl.
